History

1997: Establishment of "Hellenic Environmental Systems Industry S.A." with core business interest in the production of plastic garbage bins and a wide range of related products.

 

2000: Production facility established in the industrial area of Komotini with a capacity of 1.000.000 plastic bins per year. Helesi becomes the 7th company worldwide with a complete plastic garbage bins range under production. Komotini plant remains one of the most advanced injection moulding facilities worldwide with a total investment of more than €60 million allocated since establishment.
 
2000-2004: Helesi develops a distributor’s network in 30 countries worldwide expanding from Western Europe and the Balkans to the Far East and Latin America.

 

2004: Helesi UK Ltd is established in Bradford in order to cover the rapidly increasing demand for 2-wheeled bins in the UK and Ireland. The plant is sold in 2010.
 
2004: In a joint venture with Urbaser S.A., Helesi S.A. undertakes 50% of the waste management and environmental services of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games; the project was completed successfully.
 
2006: Komotini’s building facilities are expanded and an alternative rubber processing unit starts operating.
 
2006: President & CEO of Helesi and CEO of Helesi Plc Mr. Athanasios Andrianopoulos is awarded the "Kouros 2006 - Performance Award at the International Economic Track" for his entrepreneurship .
 
2006: Helesi Plc is introduced into the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, raising €15 million in order to complete its investment programme.

 

2007: The vehicle division and environmental services branches of Perivallontiki S.A. are merged with Helesi through absorption.
 
2008: The third production unit is established in Pisticci Italy for the production of high-volume plastic boxes for agricultural and industrial usage.

 

2009: New facilities are established in Markopoulo Attikis, consisting of the head office and a workshop area destined to support all company's activities.

 

2010-2014: Helesi copes with recession by internal reorganization, reduction of operating costs and trade policy amendments. The production unit in Bradford is sold and the company strategically switches all production operations to Greece.

 

2015-: Positive trend in the global market is achieved and the export volumes are doubled, improving all financial figures. The entrepreneurship of the company is once more acknowledged by being awarded with the Silver Award in the Top Industrial Company category.
 
Currently, more than 80% of Greek Municipalities active in the waste management sector select the products and services of Helesi; while more than 70% of fresh fruit and vegetable producers and traders prefer Helesi's pallet boxes for the storage of their products.

 

2016: On November 25th, 2016 Helesi S.A. was awarded in the category Top Export Companies and in particular "Top Industrial Export Company" of Greek Exports Awards 2016 with the Gold Award for awarding the best industrial unit with significant penetration in foreign markets.

The award demonstrates significant and valuable business efforts.

 

2017: On December 1st, 2017 Helesi S.A. was awarded in the category Top Export Companies and in particular "Top Industrial Export Company" of Greek Exports Awards 2017 with the Gold Award for awarding the best industrial unitunit with significant penetration in foreign markets.
